Latics Fall to Late Stockport Double in Tough Home Defeat
Wigan Athletic suffered a 2-0 defeat to high-flying Stockport County at The Brick Community Stadium, with two quickfire goals in the second half proving the difference.
A close first half saw both sides create chances, with Jonny Smith and James Carragher coming closest for Latics. Substitute Ronan Darcy nearly gave Latics the lead after the break, but Stockport’s stand-in goalkeeper Corey Addai produced a crucial save.
Minutes later, Lewis Bate found the net for the visitors after a pinpoint cross from Callum Camps. Just three minutes later, another Camps delivery was converted by Will Collar to seal the victory for Stockport.
Over 3,500 travelling Stockport fans made themselves heard throughout the match.
