Wigan Athletic make the trip to Mansfield Town this Saturday with confidence high after a strong performance last time out. The Latics will be looking to build on that momentum and make it two wins from two, as they aim to climb further up the League One table. However, it won’t be an easy task against a Mansfield side in fine form, who are currently unbeaten in their last three matches and have been turning the One Call Stadium into something of a fortress this season. Nigel Clough’s men have shown resilience and attacking flair in recent weeks, and they’ll be eager to keep their unbeaten streak going in front of their home fans.
Wigan Athletic: 14th
Fair to say last Saturday brought some joy to all Latics fans, with a long overdue +3, which came against a sloppy Port Vale side, and despite being a man down come the start of the second half, we remained resilient and were able to break the deadlock via Maleace Asamoah in the 56th’ minute. Going into Saturday the Latics need to find a way to break a strong Mansfield defence, and remain defensively structured.
Mansfield Town: 9th
Mansfield have continued to impress, as they bolster up the EFL League One table, with hopes of pursuing a playoff place come May 2026. Last time out the Stags impressed with a 0-2 victory over Luton at Kenilworth Road, in what proved a very poor first match for new Luton boss Jack Wilshere with a goal from Rhys Oates, & a penalty converted by Tyler Roberts. Going into tomorrow, they are easily capable of getting that +3, and will be pushing all of Wigan Athletics’ buttons.
Head-to-Head Record
Wigan Wins: 19
Draws: 5
Mansfield Wins: 11
Predicted Lineup – Wigan

Injuries & Suspensions
James Carragher | (Thigh injury) – Ryan Lowe stated that Carragher will be travelling to Mansfield, and he COULD potentially return this weekend if needed.
Baba Adeeko | (Hamstring injury) – Expected to be out of action for at least a few weeks.
Tyrese Francois | (muscle injury) – Also stated by Lowe, that he is not far off a return. His return will really boost that squad depth.
Ryan Trevitt | (Thigh Injury) – Only recently had surgery, expected to face a lengthy spell on the side lines. Honestly a massive loss.
Maleace Asamaoah | (Back injury) – He’s had a back injury, and he hasn’t trained all week so he will not be making an appearance.
Dara Costelloe | (suspended) – Three match ban, after being shown red in last Saturday’s victory over Port Vale, a very controversial decision.

Curtis’ Prediction: Mansfield Town 1-2 Wigan Athletic
💭“We’re well overdue that away win and, after showing last week at home that we can dig deep and win 1-0 at home with ten men, and with that in mind if we keep that standard I reckon we can edge it 2-1. Otherwise, if we don’t it’ll probably be a 2-1 loss.”
Charlie’s Prediction: Mansfield Town 1-1 Wigan Athletic
💭“ I’m not hugely confident for tomorrow, Wigan’s recent defensive structure and behaviour has worried me at times, but if we are somewhat able to clinch a point I will be very happy with that.

ChatGPT: Mansfield Town 1-2 Wigan Athletic
💭 “Saturday’s clash between Mansfield Town and Wigan Athletic looks set to be a tight and entertaining encounter. The Stags head into the game unbeaten in their last three matches and will be confident of extending that run in front of their home fans. Wigan, however, will be full of belief after their recent win and will be eager to make it two victories on the bounce. With both sides showing good form and plenty of attacking intent, it’s likely to be a closely fought contest — but Wigan’s pace and quality on the break could just give them the edge.”
Grok: Mansfield Town 2-1 Wigan Athletic
💭 “In the upcoming EFL League One clash at One Call Stadium on October 25, 2025, Mansfield Town are favored to secure a narrow victory over Wigan Athletic, capitalizing on their robust home record of 10 points from just five matches and recent upturn in form that has propelled them back into the top 10. Wigan, languishing in mid-table with no away wins this season and only three draws from six road games, have shown defensive frailties in recent outings, including a 3-2 EFL Trophy loss, despite a gritty 1-0 home win against Port Vale. Mansfield’s attacking threat, led by the in-form Tyler Roberts who has scored in his last three appearances alongside contributions from Regan Hendry and Jamie McDonnell, should exploit Wigan’s inconsistencies, especially with the visitors missing Dara Costelloe due to suspension; a 2-1 win for the Stags appears the most likely outcome in this evenly poised but home-leaning encounter.”
Gemini: Mansfield Town 2-1 Wigan Athletic
💭 “A narrow victory is predicted for Mansfield in their upcoming match against Wigan on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The forecast is based on Mansfield’s recent strong home form, which includes winning five of their last seven home games in League One, along with Wigan’s poor away record of no wins in their last six road games. The prediction for a 2-1 Mansfield win is bolstered by the fact that both teams frequently score, but Mansfield’s superior attacking form and Wigan’s defensive frailties away from home are expected to be the deciding factors. While recent head-to-head statistics show a mixed record, the contrast in current form, especially Mansfield’s strong home record and Wigan’s struggles on the road, suggests Mansfield is the more likely victor.”
