Midweek action returns on Tuesday with a visit from Rotherham to the Brick, and it looks like it’s gonna be a potentially disastrous night for Rotherham as a defeat will confirm their relegation to League Two, a reality that has been on the cards for a while. Wigan made it two wins in two after Saturday’s impressive win over Mansfield and with Rotherham’s form I genuinely feel confident Wigan will make it three on the bounce.
Wigan Athletic: 15th
Wigan’s win on Saturday placed them in a comfortable league position, 15th, given the rocky road of a season we’ve gone on, it makes me feel that we are in fact going nowhere and will yet again be a League One side come May. Caldwell has done a stellar job at steadying the ship, and giving the fans some decent moments to cherish, both at home & on the road, hats off to the Scotsman!
Rotherham United: 22nd
It’s been a rather hellish campaign for the Millers, and things haven’t gone their way from start to present. Relegation has looked on the cards for the majority of the campaign, and Tuesday night could finally confirm that, and make it a reality. Personally I think relegation could massively impact the side, and they would struggle to come back up anytime soon. The Millers are playing for survival, but their confidence is at an all time low after a massive 1-3 defeat to rivals Barnsley on Saturday, I think this will be a difficult game for the side.
Team Stats
Head-to-Head Record
Wigan Wins: 25
Draws: 10
Rotherham Wins: 12
Predicted Lineup

We’ve made a few changes to Saturday’s lineup. Morgan Fox made a brief appearance off the bench on Saturday, and Tuesday would seem an ideal game to give him first start and see him ease back into routine. In midfield I imagine that Owen Moxon may potentially get a start, aswell as seeing Joe Hungbo return to the starting XI, replacing Fraser Murray who did play the full ninety on Saturday. And upfront I’m hopeful that Harrison Bettoni may get another opportunity, replacing Dara Costelloe who was very poor and really the odd man out.

Curtis’ Prediction: Wigan Athletic 2-0 Rotherham United
💭“Wigan should have enough to win this one and, on paper, it’s the kind of game where a clean sheet is there for the taking given how Rotherham have been performing. That said, the draw earlier in the season is a reminder that nothing comes easy, even if things have changed since then. Still, backing the Latics to get the job done comfortably enough 2-0.”
Charlie’s Prediction: Wigan Athletic 1-0 Rotherham United
💭”We have to expect a win here, anything short would be concerning, but these are the sorts of games the Latics do come up short in. However, I will ignore that and back Wigan, and I back Joe Taylor to get his 10th goal for the Latics.”

ChatGPT: Wigan Athletic 2–1 Rotherham United
💭 “Wigan have started to steady things at home and look far more organised in recent weeks, while Rotherham are still struggling for consistency and confidence, so it feels like one where the Latics edge it—probably not comfortably, but enough to get over the line in a tight game.”
Grok: Wigan Athletic 2-0 Rotherham United
💭 “Wigan should take this one comfortably at home, where they’ve looked far more reliable, against a Rotherham side that’s low on confidence and has really struggled to create chances on the road this season.”
Gemini: Wigan Athletic 2–0 Rotherham United
💭 “Wigan’s strong home record and recent uptick in form make them the clear favorites against a Rotherham side that has consistently struggled to pick up points away from home this season. With Wigan pushing to climb into the top half of the table and the Millers mired in the relegation zone, the home side’s superior momentum should carry them to a comfortable victory.”
Claude: Wigan Athletic 2-0 Rotherham United
💭 “With Wigan riding a wave of momentum at home and Rotherham arriving as a side already staring down the trapdoor — a defeat would confirm their relegation from League One — the Latics look well placed to make it three wins on the bounce. Lee Clark has overseen one draw and three defeats since taking charge, and with Rotherham low on confidence and goals, a home side with plenty to play for should have too much on the night.”
