Brentford has confirmed the recall of winger Michael Olakigbe from his loan spell at Latics. The 20-year-old has returned to the Gtech Community Stadium after a productive time on loan, which saw him make 18 appearances and score one goal for the Latics.
During his time with the club, Olakigbe showcased his potential, contributing to the team’s efforts in various matches. Although his goal tally stands at one, his performances have been promising, offering glimpses of his skill and creativity on the wing.
Wigan Athletic provided the following statement:
“The Club would like to extend its thanks to Michael for his dedication and hard work while at Latics, and we wish him the very best for the future as he rejoins Premier League side Brentford.”
Fans of both clubs will no doubt be keeping a close eye on Olakigbe’s next steps as he continues his development at the top level of English football or on another potential loan in the near future.
Olakigbe becomes the third player to return to his parent club following the recalls of Calvin Ramsay, who returned to Liverpool FC to then go out on loan again to Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock FC, and Joe Hugill, who went back to Manchester United to then get loaned to struggling EFL League Two side Carlisle United.
