Wigan Athletic and Wrexham played out a goalless draw in front of nearly 15,000 fans at the Brick Community Stadium in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off — a fiercely contested encounter that saw both sides create chances but ultimately share the spoils.
In a match that promised intensity and drama between two proud clubs, it was Ryan Lowe’s men who carved out the better opportunities but couldn’t find a way past Wrexham’s Arthur Okonkwo, with the game ending 0-0.

Solid Performance, Lacking the Finishing Touch
Latics controlled large spells of the game, particularly in the second half, and looked the more likely to break the deadlock. Maleace Asamoah Jr was a standout, twice beating his man and going close to scoring, though questions may be asked about whether a square pass to Dale Taylor would have been the better option during a golden chance in the 65th minute.
The game also marked a major milestone for goalkeeper Sam Tickle, who made his 100th appearance for the club and earned a well-deserved clean sheet – his 36th for Wigan Athletic.
Head Coach Ryan Lowe made two changes from the midweek trip to Exeter, bringing in Baba Adeeko and Jon Mellish into midfield. Both players played key roles in maintaining control in the middle of the park and keeping Wrexham at bay.
Wrexham offered little in the first 45 minutes and were limited to speculative efforts from range, including a wayward shot from George Dobson. They improved after the break but couldn’t find a breakthrough in the face of a disciplined Latics backline.
