Wigan Athletic have strengthened their squad by signing Owen Moxon on loan from fellow Sky Bet League One side Stockport County for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
The experienced 28-year-old midfielder adds depth and competition to an area of the pitch that’s crucial for Ryan Lowe’s side as they push for a stronger table finish after recent performances being underwhelming to sasy the least.
Moxon’s career has seen him rise through the ranks of British football after coming through youth football with Carlisle United and having spells in Scotland and across the English leagues before joining Stockport County. During his professional journey, he’s become known for his work rate, versatility in midfield and ability to contribute both defensively and in attack.
The Latics faithful will be hoping Moxon can hit the ground running and bring his experience to bear as Wigan look to climb the League One table under Lowe’s management.
Fan Opinions:
Overall, Wigan fans seem fairly happy with this appointment especially when weighed up with the other ins and outs so far in this transfer window.
I mean when you put it that way, definitely big upgrades. Need more tho

I like this signing. From what I’ve seen of him, the type of player we are missing in cm. Someone who can compete in there! #wafc

However, some do acknowledge that we will need more through the door in the second half of the window if we really want to be pushing our way up the table as well as the fact that if we are aiming for sustainability then we should be tieing down some players permanently.
I’m confused with all the loan complaints really. We let go of two loans, and brought two in. We’re clearly trying to buy players on a permanent basis all be it not very well. Hopefully more permanent business will be done towards the end of the window. #wafc

It goes without saying that some people will be slating this signing, and whilst we can appreciate that he may not have played as well at Stockport as what he did during his time at Carlisle and Portsmouth, nothing is to say that the same will happen at Wigan, he could have a good run here and I think only time will tell regarding that.
The fact that none of those clips are from when he’s played for us, probably sums it up nicely.

TWe at C&C Football Vlogs welcome Owen to The Brick and wish him the best in a Latics shirt.
