Wigan Athletic’s upcoming Sky Bet League One match against Burton Albion, originally scheduled for Saturday, 22 March, has been postponed due to international call-ups for several of the club’s players.
Key members of the Latics squad, including Dale Taylor and Toby Sibbick, have received call-ups to represent Northern Ireland and Uganda, respectively. In addition to these two players, the club has been informed of another international call-up, which will be confirmed shortly.
As a result of these international commitments, Wigan Athletic worked closely with the English Football League (EFL) and Burton Albion to confirm the fixture’s postponement. The decision was made ahead of the official public announcement of national team squads, ensuring that supporters had as much notice as possible.
The fixture at the Pirelli Stadium, which will now take place on Tuesday, 29 April, will kick off at 7:45pm. Fans who were looking forward to the match on the original date will need to mark their calendars for the new date in late April.
