Wigan play on home turf again this Saturday, as it’s a visit from Yorkshire side Bradford City, and it will provide an opportunity to bounce back after Tuesday Night’s disaster. Caldwell’s arrival has seen improvement, but after that Plymouth performance questions are certainly being asked, and a visit from a side in such decent form as Bradford could potentially see the Latics pushed to their limits.
Wigan Athletic: 21st
Tuesday’s defeat placed Wigan back into the relegation zone, and as of right now it is a fairly precarious place to be, no guarantee of survival, and if other results don’t go our way we could really slump into even more trouble. Going into the weekend, I want to attempt to be positive, and I think a draw could definitely be doable, but a win may just be pushing it.
Bradford City: 4th
In the eyes of the Bradford they will likely be feeling confident given the shattering gap between us in the table, but back on Boxing Day at Valley Parade it’s fair to say we gave Bradford a run for their money and weren’t far off of sharing the points. I think the Bantams form and away backing could make it extremely difficult for Wigan.

Predicted Lineup

In terms of our predicted lineup, I think they’re could be abit of a reshuffle. Despite comments online about how Tickle should be dropped for Toby Savin, which I think is nonsense, I don’t think Sam can be held accountable. Defensively, there is no reason to drop Aimson or Kerr, but Luke Robinson felt like a liability in midweek, so I’d love to see Llyton Chapman given another start, as he did put in a very reasonable shift versus Blackpool. In the midfield, Smith & Moxon didn’t do to bad a job and should stay, and as for out wide, Murray can keep his place, but I think that Raphael deserves a start having been decent in the past couple of weeks. Callum Wright was unable to feature versus Plymouth for obvious reasons, but I will be so pleased to see him back in the starting XI, and the front two will hopefully feature a start for Harrison Bettoni, and no drop for Joe Taylor.

Curtis’ Prediction: Wigan Athletic 1-2 Bradford City
💭“It’s hard to feel too confident going into this one. Bradford look like a side with real momentum this season, and if they get into their rhythm they can make things very difficult. Wigan will likely have moments and could certainly get on the scoresheet at home, but Bradford’s quality might just prove the difference and see them edge a tight game.”
Charlie’s Prediction: Wigan Athletic 1-1 Bradford City
💭”I’ve got to have some faith, and I’ll take a gamble and say Wigan are good enough to hold the Bantams to a draw, a result that would not sit to well with the Yorkshire outfit.”

ChatGPT: Wigan Athletic 1–1 Bradford City
💭 “This feels like the sort of game that could end honours even. Bradford are pushing towards the top end of the table while Wigan are battling lower down, but home advantage at the Brick Community Stadium should help keep things competitive.
I can see Bradford having spells where they control the game, but Wigan’s need for points and the backing of the home crowd could help them nick a goal and make it a tight contest, with neither side quite doing enough to fully take control.”
Grok: Wigan Athletic 1-2 Bradford City
💭 “Bradford’s strong push near the top of League One, combined with their solid recent results and edge in the season’s earlier meeting, should see them nick a narrow away win against a struggling Wigan side fighting to climb away from the lower end of the table.”
Gemini: Wigan Athletic 1–2 Bradford City
💭 “While Wigan have shown flashes of resilience since Gary Caldwell took over, their recent heavy home defeat to Plymouth suggests they are still vulnerable against top-tier League One opposition. Bradford City, firmly entrenched in the promotion hunt, have developed a knack for grinding out results even when they aren’t at their best, and their superior clinical edge should see them edge a tight contest.”
