Wigan Athletic forward Maleace Asamoah has joined Port Vale on loan for the 2026/27 season following the conclusion of his spell with Shamrock Rovers.
The 23-year-old returned to Latics after spending the latter part of last season in Ireland, where he gained further first-team experience with Shamrock Rovers.
Asamoah joined Wigan from Fleetwood Town in August 2024 on a three-year deal and has made 26 appearances for the club, scoring twice. His first Latics goal came in dramatic fashion in March, when he struck a late equaliser against Barnsley.
He also produced one of his most memorable moments in a Wigan shirt against his new temporary club last season, coming off the bench to score the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Port Vale.
Now, Asamoah will head to Vale Park for the 2026/27 campaign as he looks to secure regular first-team football and continue his development.
Port Vale will compete in League Two this season after their relegation from the third tier last campaign, meaning Asamoah will experience a different level of English football during his loan spell.
The move is a temporary one, with Asamoah remaining a Wigan Athletic player and contracted to the Latics beyond the duration of his loan.
For Wigan, the deal gives the winger another opportunity to play regularly and continue his development, while Asamoah will be hoping to make a strong impression during his time with the Valiants.
