Thelo Aasgaard

Luton Town have reportedly expressed significant interest in Wigan Athletic’s forward, Thelo Aasgaard. According to recent reports, the Hatters are rumoured to have submitted a bid exceeding £3 million for the 22-year-old Norwegian talent during the January transfer window.
Aasgaard has been a standout performer for Wigan Athletic this season. The forward has made 25 appearances in the 2024/25 League One campaign, scoring 9 goals and registering 1 assist. His form has not only attracted Luton Town but also other suitors, including Nottingham Forest and Stoke City. Wigan’s manager, Shaun Maloney, has acknowledged the interest and hinted at a potential release clause in Aasgaard’s contract, which could play a significant role in any transfer negotiations.
Sam Tickle

Meanwhile, Preston North End (PNE) have had a bid for Wigan’s goalkeeper, Sam Tickle, rejected. Tickle, 22, has been an ever-present figure in goal for Wigan this season, featuring in all their league matches. His consistent performances have also earned him recognition on the international stage, with the young shot-stopper making his debut for England’s U21 side in March 2024.
Despite Preston’s interest, Wigan appear determined to retain Tickle, who has been pivotal to their campaign. It is worth mentioning that he did also attract plenty of interest in the Summer 2024 transfer window, such as from the likes of Premier League giants Arsenal on deadline day but refused the offer.
Wigan Athletic now face the challenge of holding onto their key players amidst interest from higher-tier clubs, while Luton Town and Preston North End are keen to bolster their squads with promising talent. How these transfer stories unfold remains to be seen as the clock ticks towards the deadline.
