Match Overview / Performance Analysis
It was a meaty affair this afternoon at the Brick Community Stadium, as Ryan Lowe and Dave Challinor’s men both fought hard to share the points. The game ended Wigan 1-1 Stockport, a draw which sees Wigan move down to 13th & Stockport move to down to 8th in the league table.
First Half
The Match was a game of two very different halves, It’s fair to Stockport were the better team in the first 45, and their opening goal, scored courtesy of Jayden Fevrier in the 4th minute, implemented control. The goal itself was off a poor nature, coming from a mis thrown – throw in, taken by Joseph Hungbo, a quick counter by County, landed the ball at Kyle Wootton, who was able to find Fevrier, and Tickle was unable to get a hand on the shot. The rest of the first 45 consisted of Wigan struggling to find any clear way’s to get through on goal, and being under pressure with persistent pressing from the opposition. The most notable Wigan opportunity, was when Christian Saydee blasted a shot right into row Z of the away end just before half time.
Second Half
The second half, produced a completely different affair, with Wigan commanding possession, and the intensity was of an immense level, from the 60th minute onwards, Wigan persisted with chance after chance, with both Saydee and Costelloe trying their hardest to get an equaliser. Costelloe was replaced by Mullin in the 63rd minute, and it added that experience and versatility we needed going forward, after working and working Wigan finally struck gold when in the 78th minute, Morgan Fox delivered a cross into the box which was fired into the back off the bottom left corner by Christian Saydee, giving Wigan that desired equaiser. The final 12 minutes (including added time) consisted of heavy defending from the Latics as Stockport searched for that vital winner, but the Tics held their shape well and were able to earn a well earnt point.
Wigan Athletic Player Ratings
Sam Tickle: 5/10 – County’s opening goal could certainly off been avoided, but he made up for it with a huge save in the second half.
Will Aimson: – 7.5/10 – Held his head high and effectively held off Stockpart’s attackers.
Jason Kerr: – 6.5/10 – It was an average performance from Kerr, he played his part decently.

Tyrese Francois: – 4.5/10 – Struggled massively in that first half, and was subbed at half time. We will hope to see better off him in future.
Ryan Trevitt: – 6/10: Wasn’t massively involved today, but he did his job when it was needed.
Callum Wright: – 7/10 – Wright was creative today, and played a massive part in the build up, and kept on running right up until the very last second.
Joe Hungbo: – 7/10 – Held up play brilliantly on that left hand side today, he was really good.

Attendance & Atmosphere
Wigan Athletic – The attendance today stood at, 8,748, which is nothing succeeding what we usually average, but when it comes to atmosphere, I was very impressed, as supporters they’re were some good moments of pure chanting mania, more than usual If I may add.
Stockport County – Stockport brought 2,669 visiting fans, which isn’t as many as they bought back in February but is still a decent amount, and they did a make a decent amount of noise.
