Date: Tuesday, April 8th 2025
Kick-off: 7:45 PM
Venue: St James’ Park
Current Standings and Recent Form
Exeter City: 16th
Exeter’s form has remained inconsistent throughout the season, and after only one win in the last 5, pressure continues to mount manager, Gary Caldwell. The ex Wigan boss has certainly struggled this season to gain any real form, and his future at the club remains very uncertain, with it being fair to say fan’s are unhappy. Going into the final run of games, City will be hoping to end the season with a decent run.
Wigan Athletic: 19th
For Wigan, life under Ryan Lowe hasn’t gotten off to a great start, with the Latics failing to register, a win in his first 3 games. However, Wigan have only conceded 2 goals, with the back 3 certainly implementing some force, but the attack have only registered 1 goal going forward, and it’s fair to say there is a lack of threat. Coming off the back of a 0-0 draw away to Leyton Orient, Wigan fans were quick to comment, on the poor football on show, and regarded it as being “quite boring”.
Head-to-Head Record
Wigan Wins: 12
Draws: 4
Exeter Wins: 4
Players to Watch
Wigan Athletic:
- Sam Tickle – Tickle remains as consistent as ever, a big part of this current defensive force Ryan Lowe is implementing
- James Carragher – One of Wigan’s true future stars, Carragher has certainly been effectively showcasing his defensive force recently, and he really is one of our best players at the moment.
Exeter City:
- Joe Whitworth – The Crystal Palace loanee has certainly impressed this season, and he has been one of the EFL’S most exciting goalkeepers.
- Ryan Trevitt – The former Brentford man has certainly impressed since returning on a second loan spell, a real fan favourite player.
- Josh Magennis – The former Wigan man, certainly caused quite a stir when he returned to the Brick in September, after abit of a aggravation towards his former teamates.

Match Predictions
Curtis’ Prediction: Exeter City 0-0 Wigan Athletic
💭 As I mentioned in the podcast, on first thoughts of this fixture I thought it’s going to be a 0-0 stinker as they say. Which, in all fairness is how the reverse fixture ended at the Brick in December. However, Exeter are in a similar form to us this season as they are hovering in the same positions as we have and I think it’s fair to say that due to us not scoring in our last few fixtures I am not feeling optimistic about us scoring so I am sticking with 0-0.
Charlie’s Prediction: Exeter City 0-0 Wigan Athletic
💭 Can’t imagine this game to be much different, to last Saturday, and as Curtis mentioned, in the last meeting it was a really boring 0-0 affair. So I don’t anticipate much change to be quite frankly honest.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Predictions
ChatGPT: Exeter City 1-1 Wigan Athletic
“A draw feels like the most likely result – expect a closely fought battle with moments of quality on both ends.”
Grok: Exeter City 1-1 Wigan Athletic
“Recent form’s patchy for both, with draws and losses aplenty. Playing at St James Park might give Exeter a slight edge, but stats suggest a 1-1 draw’s likely. Expect a tight, low-scoring scrap!”
