17 Goals in 11 Games: Adam Moseley Stuns During Trial as Latics Reshape Their U21s

Wigan Athletic’s academy setup has seen a major shake-up this week, with two significant pieces of news highlighting just how bright the future could be for the Latics.

Jack Rogers Secures Short-Term Move to Macclesfield

Earlier today it was confirmed that U21s captain Jack Rogers has joined Northern Premier League side Macclesfield FC on a short-term loan.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for the young centre-half to gain valuable senior experience, especially after already catching the eye of Ryan Lowe, who has handed him a handful of first-team minutes this season.

Rogers has been one of the standout performers in the academy setup, and this move should give him the platform to further develop his physicality and leadership in a competitive men’s football environment.

Best of luck, Jack. 💙

Adam Moseley Set to Join Wigan After Sensational Trial

Even bigger news broke yesterday, with reports confirming that Adam Moseley, the prolific young striker from Runcorn Linnets, is expected to officially join Wigan Athletic in January following a hugely successful trial period.

And when you look at his numbers… it becomes obvious why the club have moved quickly.

His U21 Stats Are Genuinely Ridiculous

During his trial, Moseley has produced some staggering scorelines and performances:

  • Wigan U21s 5–2 Swansea U21s — 4 goals
  • Coventry U21s 0–9 Wigan U21s — 4 goals
  • Wigan U21s 2–1 Sheffield United U21s — 2 goals
  • Stoke U21s 1–4 Wigan U21s — 3 goals
  • Barnsley U21s 2–7 Wigan U21s — 4 goals

That’s 17 goals in 11 appearances — numbers you simply can’t ignore. For a player stepping up from non-league football, it’s an incredible return.

If the move is finalised, it won’t be completed until the January transfer window opens, but on current form it’s surprising that higher-league clubs haven’t already tried to snap him up.

What It Means for the Latics

With Rogers gaining valuable minutes out on loan and Moseley potentially joining on a permanent basis, Wigan’s youth setup feels more exciting than ever. The club continue to show faith in young talent, and supporters will be eager to see how both players develop over the coming months.
