- EFL League One Wigan
Wigan Athletic will host Wrexham AFC at The Brick Community Stadium on Saturday, April 12, 2025, with kickoff scheduled for 12:30 PM BST. The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Current Standings and Recent Form
Wrexham AFC: 2nd
It’s been wonderful season for Phil Parkinson’s side, sitting second with the guarantee of promotion only a mere few games away. Coming of the back off a dominant win over Burton Albion at the weekend, the Welsh side will undoubtedly be no easy match for the latics.
Wigan Athletic: 18th
In Wigan’s last game, they travelled down South to face Exeter City, a match which ended 1-1, after Wigan netted a penalty scored by Dale Taylor. A game in which, fans would say marked slight improvement and going into this game it will take alot for Wigan to claim any sort of result here.
Head-to-Head Record
Wigan Wins: 11
Draws: 8
Wrexham Wins: 7
Players to Watch
Wigan Athletic:
- Sam Tickle – Tickle remains as consistent as ever, a big part of this current defensive force Ryan Lowe is implementing
- James Carragher – One of Wigan’s true future stars, Carragher has certainly been effectively showcasing his defensive force recently, and he really is one of our best players at the moment.
Wrexham AFC:
- Arthur Okonkwo – A talented shot stopper, Okonkwo is no doubt one of the league’s best keepers, and has a very bright future.
- Eoghan O’Connell – The Irish centre half has been no short of dominant.
- Max Cleworth – The partnership of both O’Connell and Cleworth has been no short of one to remember.
- Sam Smith – An exciting striker who has the potential to reach double figures each and every season.
- Steven Fletcher – A veteran of the game, Fletcher is a complete striker with bags of experience to back it up.
Predicted Lineup – Wigan:

Match Predictions
Curtis’ Prediction: Wigan Athletic 0-0 Wrexham AFC
💭 As much as it would be nice to give them something to stick in their documentary, it cannot be ignored that Wrexham have had a great season under Phil Parkinson, and this certainly won’t make life easy for a struggling Latics side. With this in mind, I am going to go for 2-1 to Wrexham, in all honesty I think it’ll be the same scoreline as the reverse fixture but with our lack of goals this season I could see us not scoring.
Charlie’s Prediction: Wigan Athletic 1-3 Wrexham AFC
💭 Arguably the most difficult game of the season, tied with Birmingham, this game will be difficult and I would be shocked to see anything other than a Wrexham win.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Predictions
ChatGPT: Wigan Athletic 1-2 Wrexham AFC
“Wrexham’s superior form and attacking depth should see them narrowly edge a 2-1 win over Wigan at The Brick Community Stadium.”
Grok: Wigan Athletic 1-1 Wrexham AFC
“The reverse fixture in December 2024 saw Wrexham edge out a 2-1 win at home with a late goal, suggesting these matches are often tight. Wigan’s home games can be low-scoring, and Wrexham’s away form isn’t as dominant as their home record.
I’d lean toward a close game—maybe a 1-1 draw. Wigan could nick a goal from a set piece or counter, while Wrexham’s persistence might get them an equalizer. Alternatively, if Wrexham’s promotion push stays strong, they could sneak a 1-0 win.”
